This class is very organized, at the beginning the teacher made sure that the students knew where to submit their assignments. This was the start of the class.

Once we got into the lesson, his powerpoint was simple and easy to comprehend, plus engaging to look at with the way it was laid out. There weren’t too many words, only the main points that he wanted the students to take away from the lesson. I really liked this as it doesn’t overwhelm the students and they can easily digest the material that is being presented.

When he was going over the content of how he wanted a first draft done and then showed a breakdown for a literary essay, with colour coding throughout to show repetition of the main ideas from the thesis statement and how it goes throughout the essay. This makes a very clear visual representation of how the essay should work and the connecting ideas and where they go throughout the essay. Also, he did ask for their opinions often, checking in with them to make sure that they understand what they are doing.

He also got the students to work in small groups on their homework. I believe that it is very beneficial for students to work together as it allows them to grow their skills, however, if the group ends up with shy students, then it isn’t as beneficial for the students and they may not get enough peer support. There was a debrief after the breakout rooms which allowed for students to voice their concerns over what happened during that time. It was a great chance for students to voice their questions and concerns and get a rough idea of how the class is feeling about the topic and if anything else is needing to be covered.
