To be honest, I felt nervous, but I was also excited going in. As soon as the lesson started  and the students instantly started to interact with us, the nerves went away and I felt a lot more comfortable. It was amazing just the one little thing instantly changed how I felt about me teaching the class.

I’m really glad that I was able to have this opportunity to teach so early in the semester, it helped me see that I am on the right path and to solidify everything that had been taught in classes up to this point.

One thing that was unclear was how long to wait to start the class, this created some  awkward silence, but also gave us time to talk with the students so this caused us not to do everything on our lesson plan and had to make amendments to it. The students really engaged with us and we didn’t have too much trouble with getting the students to go along with it. We were going to use the breakout rooms, but unfortunately, time was short.

Making use of the technology available to us helped with our presentation and the sharing of a video as the link didn’t work in the PowerPoint, as well as having the students fill in the lyrics. The time really flew during the class. Fifty minutes barely felt like ten minutes.

Not all students were as willing to talk on the mic during the actual lecture part, but they seemed to enjoy our warm up of two truths and a lie. It was interesting hearing what the students said and how some changed just enough to create their lie statement.

Next time I teach I know what areas I need to improve on, and what things worked with that group.
