Already having one session of teaching helped going into this lesson. I felt really good going into this class and having a solid plan, though I did notice that again, my time management is still not up to par, but it is only my second chance at teaching. Going into my next lesson, I’m hoping that I will be able to manage my time more effectively
During the lesson, I found that the same students were responding, so I think that it would be a good idea to implement name cards to call on students.
I found that planning a lesson and using what my sponsor teacher suggested made for a simple lesson for my first time in this class, though reading through the story did take more time than I expected, but it was good hearing what words weren’t clear because after the first couple of paragraphs I could start predicting which words might come up when asked about the vocab.
It would have been nice if I had the time to do breakout rooms so that the students would have been able to discuss the different elements of the story and then meet back together and go over it, but because the story took a longer amount of time to go through, that part of the activity didn’t get to happen.
The feedback received after the class helped to see how the next class that I teach can go a bit smoother especially if I do budget my class time better.
For a two hour class, the time flew by much quicker than I expected.
